Prologue
On my 26th birthday, I had heard a homily at daily mass about Lazarus. The priest had said that Jesus called out to Lazarus rather than going to his corpse or having his corpse brought to him. This implies that Lazarus had a choice to be raised from the dead.
In a similar way, Chicago faces a choice to be figuratively “raised from the dead.” This radical transformation of fate for the city can only be possible through a genuine sustained collective act of fortitude by the people of Chicago.
